What the province says about playing online

Written and checked by Margot ThériaultChecked October 7, 2026

The province states that ALC.ca is the only legal and regulated online gambling platform in New Brunswick. This page explains that statement and what the paid links on this site's home page are.

ALC.ca and Atlantic Lottery

ALC.ca belongs to the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, which the four Atlantic provinces own jointly. For the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation, or NBLGC, it operates online gaming, the video lottery program and traditional lottery. The province states that ALC.ca is the only legal and regulated online gambling platform in New Brunswick. Three kinds of play sit on it: Digital Instants, iBingo and iCasino.

In fiscal 2023-24, iLottery brought the NBLGC $28.6 million. Of that, $24.1 million came from iCasino. Atlantic Lottery requires players to be 19+ to purchase, play or redeem its products. That rule covers ALC.ca, VLTs and lottery tickets alike.

Other online sites

Atlantic Lottery says other gambling sites cannot legally operate or advertise in Atlantic Canada under Canadian and provincial law. Some of those sites present themselves as licensed and regulated overseas. Atlantic Lottery says such claims do not change this. The statement covers both running such a site and advertising one.

The NBLGC's 2023-24 annual report notes an apparent increase in sports betting, and in online gambling through regulated and unregulated platforms. No provincial licensing or registration scheme for private online operators was found in New Brunswick. That sets the province apart from Ontario, which has a regulated market.

Limits and breaks on ALC.ca

On ALC.ca, players can set a weekly deposit limit, a daily session time limit and a daily wager limit. Players who want a pause can use Take a Break, which runs for 1 to 90 days. Its button is on all wager screens and in the My Account menu.

For a longer stop, ALC.ca has a long break of 6, 12, 24 or 36 months. Once it is set, neither the player nor Atlantic Lottery can reverse it. Coming back after self-exclusion on ALC.ca requires completing an education program first.

Paid links on this site

Paid links on this site appear only on its home page, and each one is marked Ad. All of them lead to the same private online casino site, which is not ALC.ca and is not run or licensed by the province. This site earns a commission from that partner, and the partner can change. The guide itself takes no bets and has no accounts. This page carries no paid links.
