The track in Woodstock

Connell Park Raceway sits at 137 Connell Park Road in Woodstock. The Woodstock Driving Club's phone is (506) 325-0483.

Racing in Woodstock started around 1874. Its modern era began in 1924 at Island Park. After the Mactaquac dam was built, the track moved to Connell Park. New track lights were installed before the 2026 season.

No official website for the raceway was found. Admission prices and parking details were not found online either. For those, the Woodstock Driving Club's phone line is the place to ask, ahead of a race day.

The tracks that closed

Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John was the centre of harness racing in New Brunswick when its closure was set for December 31, 2022. Harness Racing N.B. said at the time that it would likely move its operations to Woodstock.

Fredericton Raceway last hosted harness racing on September 8, 2019. Its grandstand at the exhibition grounds was demolished in 2025. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip saw their first harness race at that track, on July 28, 1959.

Horse racing in the province goes back to the early 1830s. Of the three tracks named on this page, Connell Park is the one still on the commission's list.

Who oversees the racing

Harness racing in New Brunswick is regulated by the Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission, or MPHRC. It is an agency of the Council of Atlantic Premiers. The same commission covers Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia as well.

Betting sits under a different body. Pari-mutuel betting on horse racing in Canada is regulated and supervised by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency. The New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation is not directly involved in it.
